Poland will be aiming to build on a 2-0 win over Faroe Islands when they take on Moldova at PGE Narodowy in Warsaw. Robert Lewandowski remains on the sidelines with injury, but the Barcelona superstar was not missed at all in the last group game. In his absence, Arkadiusz Milik will continue leading the line for the hosts, while Antalyasport forward Adam Buksa is pushing for a start after sealing the victory against Faroe Islands.
The Moldovans, on the other hand, did well to beat Poland in Chisinau earlier in the process, meaning that the hosts are hungry for revenge. Serghei Clescenco’s troops, though, are not regarded as good travellers and we do not believe that they are capable of claiming yet another major scalp in Group E. As for the away team, talented midfielder Nikita Motpan should be cautious as he is only one yellow card away from suspension.

Poland have recently emerged as one of Europe’s top sides, although they did enjoy some success during the 70’s and 80’s. The White Eagles impressed to achieve third-place finish at the 1974 and 1982 World Cup tournaments, while they also win the 1972 Olympics, albeit with an amateur side.
Poland started showing improvement at the turn of the century, slowly becoming regular at major tournaments and they even co-hosted the Euro 2012 with Ukraine, but disappointed home fans to crash out in the group stage. The new generation, boasting players like Robert Lewandowski, Arkadiusz Milik, Lukas Piszczek, Grzegorz Krychowiak and Jakub Blaszczykowski, has the potential to help the national team return to old glory days, with some talented players also coming through the youth ranks.
